Performance
The new M Class has given every buyer increased performance with the two new engines for which the new M Class vehicles are named. The ML350 comes with the new 3.5 liter V6, and the ML500 packs the new 5.0 liter V8. The new 3.5 liter V6 uses a die cast aluminum alloy block, with cast aluminum alloy cylinder heads, each of which carry its own intake and exhaust camshaft which with the assistance of a variable valve timing system, help to operate their share of the twenty four valves, set in the heads at ninety degrees to the face of the cylinder. The 3.5 utilizes an advanced air intake system which draws air through a dual stage magnesium resonance intake manifold, with electro pneumatic turbulence flaps at the front end of the intake plenum which controls air intake speed at varying ranges for a more precise air to fuel mixture. This setup helps to increase low end horsepower and torque, as well as increasing throttle response across all of the RPM ranges. To match all of this air intake, the spark is provided by means of a single high energy ignition coil and one spark plug per cylinder, which are only slated to be changed every one hundred thousand miles. The fuel is introduced by means of a electronically controlled sequential multipoint fuel injection system, which is integrated with the ME 9.7 engine management system; which when combined allow for individual control per cylinder of fuel insertion, ignition timing, and antiknock issues; all of which yield a 10.7 to 1 compression ratio, requiring no less than ninety one octane premium gasoline. This new V6 setup with the variable valve timing and intricate spark and induction system allows the small, efficient engine to build an impressive two hundred and sixty eight horsepower at six thousand revolutions per minute, and two hundred and fifty eight pound-feet of torque at five thousand revolutions per minute.

The second vehicle in the new M Class lineup, as mentioned is the ML500. The 5.0 liter V8 in this model is so similar to the V6 in construction that it is almost simply a bigger version of the 3.5 liter engine. The 5.0 liter engine comes with a die cast aluminum alloy block, with cast aluminum alloy cylinder heads, each of which carry its own intake and exhaust camshaft witch with the assistance of a variable valve timing system, help to operate their share of the twenty four valves, set in the heads at ninety degrees to the face of the cylinder. This 5.0 also utilizes an advanced air intake system which draws air through a dual stage magnesium resonance intake manifold, but without the turbulence flaps, yes still helping to increase low end horsepower and torque, as well as increasing throttle response across all of the RPM ranges. The spark of this 5.0 liter is provided by dual high energy ignition coils and two spark plugs per cylinder, which are only slated to be changed every one hundred thousand miles. The fuel is introduced by means of a electronically controlled sequential multipoint fuel injection system, which is integrated with the ME 2.8 engine management system; which when combined allow for individual control per cylinder of fuel insertion, dual phase ignition timing, and antiknock issues; all of which yield a 10.7 to 1 compression ratio, requiring no less than ninety one octane premium gasoline. This new Mercedes V8 setup in the new ML500 gives the driver control of the road with a commanding three hundred and two horsepower at fifty six hundred revolutions per minute, and three hundred and thirty nine pound feet of torque at forty seven hundred and fifty revolutions per minute.
