And what are the true bad points regarding the SLK 350?

I got an 05 last week.  So far I love it.  Did you get yours with navigation?  I was looking for one without and then bought a Garmin with bluetooth to answer calls with and love it.

I bought a '05 SLK 350 last summer with 18K miles and it's been a very good experience so far. I had a '03 C240 for four years before that. The 350 has enough power and I'm glad I got it rather than the 280 (which I test drove many times). It's actually more comfortable than I antiscipated and what many people say. I've driven it four hours at once many times and had no problems whatsoever. What I found most annoying is the squeaky top and a rattle behind the passenger side when the top is up. I did notice that transmission would be jerky when just starting out and I asked the dealer about it when I took it in for service and he said it was normal due to something or other.

Finally, I really like the looks and cache that comes with this car. I test drove a Boxster about 4 times. It's a great car, but the rag top and middle-aged-guy or hot chick stigma was a deal breaker. The BMW Z4 is ugly and not comfortable at all and had NO performance to speak of.

try using a rubber vinyl conditioner uv protectant on the top seals when u get squeaks in the top.  it's common.  otherwise, congrats and have fun.

Hey!

I just got my 05 slk-350. The rattling you may be hearing could be the passenger's seatbelt slapping against the rear of the seat which is plastic. That's what I've experienced and I keep it buckled when not in use and life is quiet! Otherwise it drove me absolutely nuts. Hope this helps.
