I accidentally popped the boot off the differential on my "new" 300SD. I lost about 1/4 quarts of diff fluid onto the ground.
I plan on draining and filling. I don't have an owner's or service manual. What specs of lube should I be looking for? 85w90?

Answer to my question for those of futrue generations.
The boots are liquid filled. I did not loose and diff fluid.
easy to rebuild with grease in boot instead of oil.

Most quick lube places have a needel they can attach to a grease gun that can be poked into the boot in order to fill it with oil or grease. I am sure you could buy one of these and do it yourself, but it would likely be cheaper to have a lube place do it since this is not a normal maintaince item.

Do not use bearing grease or gear oil! The axles use a special grease made specifically for CV axle joints.

Never trust a lube place with anything on your car. They barely know how to change engine oil.
