Hi there everyone, new to the forum and wondering if anyone can advise with a little problem we are having.
We have a A170 CDI with a tip-tronic gear box, but it won't put the car in any gears, we can select them with the stick fine but the dash just shows a 'F'.  Now I think this means that the electronic selector is gone or on its way out, but can anyone else offer up any ideas.

Thanks.

Dan.

Hello,
Im owner of A Class 190 tiptronic. This is a problem in eletronic control board of the automatic gear box, most especific in only one microchip of circuit. Your car is in "emergencial mode" and dont shift any gear. Here in Brazil, several A Class has this problem, this was fixed by MB in only 2004 models and above. But you fix this changing the board because the microchip is SMD and is impossible to change only this part. Here this is very expensive to fix, MB ask US$ 5000 for a new board !!!!!!

Thanks for that, it gives me something to look at now and something to go to Merc with.  I'm going to give them a call back tomorrow about it as they say there 'IT' systems are down at the moment.
