LLooking to put in a amp and maybe two 10's into the trunk of my C320. A friend of mine suggests not putting in a system because the BOSE is already great and I wouldn't want to mess up the wiring. I want to keep the BOSE and all the other stuff but i wanted more bass, so what should i do looking at a budget of under $1000. Also I am looking into adding some engine upgrades so if you could help me with either that would be great

Thanks

I'm not sure about keeping the Bose and adding a sub.  There may be a line out coming from the back of the radio or elsewhere.  If you really have no experience working on car audio I'd personally take it into a reputable car audio shop and at least see what they suggest and what prices they would quote you.   Honestly, Bose is not already great - they are ok midrange but don't have a good lowrange or highend.  One of the first things I did when I got my Benz was replace the audio...  If I remember right they had to mess with wiring a little bit, but they charged less than $150 to do it and I've never had problems with any of my car's electricals.

If only upgrading the engine with the $1k, then you could probably tune the ECU, get an exhaust, or an intake, or something along those lines...  Others would know better about particular pricing...

Well, here's a possible list:

$400 - 2x 10" Alpine Type R subs: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SWR-1042D

$450 - Alpine 600W amp http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=MRP-F600

$850 might be a little high if you are getting them installed at a shop though...  You have to figure in wires, etc too...  Or you may be able to find them cheaper.  Or you could go with one sub and a mono amp, which would save quite a bit of money.  I only have 1 10" sub in mine, with less wattage, and it's plenty powerful for me.  Don't go too big on the subs though.  Larger subs respond more slowly, and will be out of whack with the music.  Unless of course all that matters is thumping the bass as loud as possible...  My estimate for a final price with that exact set up, installed at a shop, would be about $1,200.  About $100 in install, some in wiring, and of course boxes for the subs - all important, ported boxes may be louder but sacrifice accuracy.  Sealed is accurate, but less loud.
