Carlsson Tuning Creates the CK60 "Ultimate Dream Coupe"
Miami, FL – At rest, you simply can't take your eyes off of it. Put the hammer down and 62mph happens in just 4.4seconds. Hit the open road and the pure joy of driving erases everything else going on in your life. The Carlsson CK60 has achieved the impossible – having it all!
The Mercedes-Benz CL600 is so good that few tuners would even try to improve it. However, the engineers and designers at Carlsson saw the potential to give it more of an "edge" with subtle changes. From a styling perspective the CK60 looks like it was designed at the factory – aerodynamically sound and nothing tacked on or out of character. The Carlsson diffuser style front spoiler improves the flow of air to the radiators and is the perfect transition into the new 9 x 21-inch, 11-spoke Carlsson Ultra light wheels. The side and rear skirts add perfect proportion and balance to the huge 10 x 21-inch rear wheel package. The CL's distinctive side body arch, flows right into the Carlsson rear deck spoiler that adds a large measure of high speed stability…simply put, it looks like it's going 200mph standing still!
Backing up the CK60's aggressive look required extensive engine and suspension refinements. The silky-smooth V12 has been boosted from 517hp to 600hp and 755ft.lbs. of torque by reducing exhaust back pressure, intake restrictions and optimizing the engine management system. Carlsson has optimized the exhaust pipe routing for maximum flow and fitted its center and rear silencers that promote flow and produce a deep, powerful tone. Top speed is electronically regulated to 199mph due to tire restrictions.
A good deal of what makes the CK60 look so aggressive is the lowered stance that is actively controlled by Carlsson's C-Tronic® SUSPENSION. It lowers the vehicle about 1.3-inches and interacts intelligently with the road surface. On rough roads it automatically raises the vehicle to ensure adequate compression travel and ride compliance. On smooth roads it lowers the vehicle to reduce roll and raise the suspension rate for sharper handling.
The resulting package is an elegant coupe with S-Class room and Supercar performance.
