Hello all,

I recently got a 1984 Mercedes 300D, Diesel, 5 cylinder, auto transmission, Grey-market import, non-turbo.
it needs a new transmission.

will the transmission from a 78 or a 77 300D fit in this car? same engine, only with a turbo.

sorry if this is in the wrong forum section.

77 and 78 are non-turbo and, no, they unfortunately will not fit because the shifting controls are different.

Forced is right. I actually did get a 81 tranny to work with my 78.. but it took some tweeking. That was non-turbo for non-turbo.
