Sunday, after driving for 30 minutes, stopped to buy something and left kids and wife in car while it was running. It stopped running.  Would not start.  "Defective Display Oil" was showing.
It started after 20 minutes.
Today, stopped at childcare.  Came back out.  Tried to restart, would not do it.
"Display Oil Level ?" showed.   Waited 20 minutes, and it started.

I see fuel filter, and crankshaft pos. sensor....on other posts.
I stopped at Auto Zone and guy plugged in his hand held computer. Did not show anything.
DId the push "o" twice, and it says Oil level good.

What do you think it is.  Happens when car is warm.

Just had oil changed about three weeks ago.  Could it be the guy bumped something, or possibly overfilled the oil. And if the oil was overfilled, would that keep the car from starting?

I have the Mercedes shop manual DVD...should I look in there?

Please help.

Thanks, Jeff

Display oil level will come on at times when the car has sat with the key on and no start cycle occured. The symptoms are classic cps, what year and model?where are you located?
autohausaz.com  and diy on benzworld.org w210 diy section.Be careful around the sharp heat shield use a good flashlight to see clearly down there and it is easily done by anyone who wants to give it a try.
They usually don't throw a code but your description fits it to a tee

My E 320 is a 1999.  Seems like the CPS is the way to go.  For a hundred bucks,

will try it.  Have to do it someday anyway.

Thanks
