i parked under a tree... and now i have tree sap residue on my 2007 black mercedes. does anyone know what is best to remove the tree sap? i purchased turtle wax bug & tar remover... is this good enough to remove the stains without damaging the paint? i was also told i need to wax my vehicle after using some kind of sap removal... is this true? should i just get my car professional detailed instead? any input would be helpful regarding this issue. thanks!!!

ISO rubbing alcohol is a good way to remove tree sap.  Also, sap is acidic to it will etch your paint, and they only way to get the etching out is to polish the clear coat, then maybe you do need a pro.  If it's not damaged then I wouldn't use a pro, just get some zaino ZAIO and anyone of their sealants.  Easy to apply and provides great protection.  White Vinager is also good and you can use that product too.

I have found that Griots Speed Shine works wonders on sap and bird droppings.  I haven't given them much time to set though.

Donot use Turtle Bug & Tar Remover on your new finish, or you will have to refinish it!
