Great diesel Benz.  Could eat you alive depending upon how much neglected maintenance there is.  Rust could certainly be an issue, too.

I had a 93 drove it 230,000 it was a great car and i would still be driving it if it were not wrecked. Only problem I had with it in 230K miles was with the AC. The evaporator core had to be replaced the new core was about $700 and the labor to install it was About $1300. Only other problem was the alternator which failed at 220K funny thing was it failed and i never got an alternator light on the dash. I wish I could find another with about 200K i would buy it.

I just bought a '92 300D, my initiation into the diesel fraternity. It has 220K on it. It needed a new drive shaft and the injector pump resealed. Everything else works well and the local MB mech has blessed it as being in good shape. I got 35mpg on the last fill, not as good as the 54mpg Igot on the Jetta TDI I bought concurrently but way better than the '05 Taurus it replaced.
