What's your favorite cure for stinky insides? Car insides, that is. After the new-car smell wears off, what do you use to freshen up the air inside?

I hate all the super-sweet smelling air fresheners and stay away from them. I'd rather put a bag of dirty socks behind the seats. What other choices are there? I know someone must have a great idea they haven't shared yet. Well? What is it?

steps to take:
1. have the interior carpet washed and vacuum
2. Put lots of charcoal on a bucket and leave it for several days.
3. pour some baking soda on the underlay, under the carpet mattings.
4. all of the above have been tested and showed on the discovery channel.
applicable only to individuals who do not wish to smell the essence of artificial air freshner.

All that just to freshen up? It's not like I had dead bodies in there all summer.

I was thinking more along the lines of a leather cleaner that smells like new leather (Zaino), Lysol Neutra-Air for the air voids, and Febreeze on the carpeted surfaces.

I always thought they should have a car freshner that smells like someone is grilling steak!

I guess I could put my Hibachi in there and grill some cow. I can't think of a reason not to.

I may even try some water buffalo if sleepwalker swims over here.

Now I'm hungry. I use Turtle wax's interior upholstry foam cleaner on carpets to give them a long lasting light slightly feminine scent. My Ford Explorer smells a little like a woman I used to date. Ahh!

The charcoal thingy in a bucket works pretty good to get rid of that dead body smell (or was that dirty socks we were talking about?). Oh well should work out good for both.

I have "new car smell" in a bottle that's smells pretty close to febreeze. Not bad and not too strong. I'll find the bottle and post the brand name if anyone is interested ?

And a little blast of Perfume that reminds you of an awesome lady you once had is not a bad way to go either....... although it could make driving a bit more interesting when you start thinking about that lady instead of where you are going :)
