Oil pressure occasionally stays at 3 bar during hot idle. At other times it's at 3 bar at +1500RPM and drops to 1.5 bar at hot idle. All maintenance points hit. Car has 137,000 miles, but still runs and drives perfect. No noises from engine either hot or at start up. Engine temperature normal. Any recommendations? or is this expected.

What grade/kind of oil are you using?

Mobil1, 0w-40. Have always either used Mobile 1 or Pentosyn. Thanks for any advice you can give me. 1998 S420.

140s idle at almost nothing, but they have a two stage pump and somewhere over 1000/1500 the needle should peg or be near the top. It does depend on the oil viscosity, type and the ambiant temperature. A cold engine would yield higher pressure at starup
