my baby (see pic) was destroyed last week, via toyota 4runner plowing into me at 30mph while i was stopped in traffic. the insurance company says its a total loss. it was a euro 280ce with 4 speed manual and metallic green paint. i would guess theres maybe 10 cars in the whole united states that fit this particular description, add in all the work i put into it and youre looking at one sad former 280ce owner. it wasnt perfect, there was some rust and the drivers side seat was worn, dash cracked etc, so i might get 3k out of the insurance company if im really lucky, which leads me to my question: anybody out there know of a 4 speed 280ce for sale? i know replacing my car is a long long shot, even with 3k in hand, but im looking for a car thats not just another white or brown automatic trans 280ce. my location is oregon, usa.

The ce's are very hard to come by. I've only ever seen two, a 300ce at the junkyard and another down in Baltimore. Yours looked like a great car. I don't personally know of any 280ce's for sale, but out of curiousity, do you have pics of the damage? Did it look reparable? I think you could have gotten more than just 3 grand for such a rare beauty..

It seems sometimes that Insurance don't consider how rare a car is. They just want to pay as little as possible or find reason to pay less. I mean, the CEO is trying to buy a new S55 AMG. He can't do that if he's giving away top dollar on rare cars.

It's going to be hard to find a 280ce with a manual gearbox but you could transfer all the manual goodies from your wrecked ce
