Asking $600 OR BEST OFFER. 1986 190E 2.3L AT Gas. "Thunder Gray" with light brown leather interior. - The odometer has been dead since we got it in September 2001 at 154k-odd.
- We don't drive to work, so we primarily drove it on the weekends. No drastic wear and tear in that sense.
- The transmission died in December 2006 and we haven’t driven it since. We debated whether to put in a new transmission, but decided against it since we wanted to get a bigger vehicle anyway.
- The current situation is that the car starts right up but doesn’t move.
- The central locking system needs replacement. For the past 3 ore more years we've only been able to lock and unlock from the trunk.
- The heat and air don't work.
- The odometer needs to be replaced.
- There is a fairly severe dent and some dings from where careless people in parking lots dinged us.
- You’ll have to get it towed.
Now, the good news:
The car is in good shape for something that is 21 years old. We are only the 3rd owners. Our aunt was the 2nd owner and drove it from 1988-2001, when she bought an S-class in Germany and gave this one to us! We love the car and have taken good care of it (full tune-up in July 2006, regular oil changes, parts replacements, inspections, etc. and 24/7 on- call consultation from our brother who is a Mercedes mechanic at a dealership in the Bay Area). The interior is in pretty great shape. We hate to part with it, but we have no choice. It’s just sitting in our parking space.
If you want it, it’s yours. There’s something in it for everyone. If you need it for the parts, it breaks our hearts to think it will be chopped up, but do it! If you want it for the car, it's definitely a project. In all honesty, if fixed up, that car has at least 5 more years of driving left in it...and it runs like a champ when it does run. That baby can haul butt! We're HUGE Mercedes fans, but just too tired of the whole 'project' thing. Also getting tired of seeing it just sit around in our parking lot.
