I have this problem with my new 1987 300TD wagen 6cyl turbo when I park uphill for more then 10 minutes it will not start even very slight slop, after the glow plug light off , I start once it will fire right up and dies after, then it will not start again, sounds no fuel gets there, I have to crank about 10-20times (10 sec each time) to get it restart everytime, also when it's cold -5 or below even park level, if I don't get it first shot of cranking,it will not start again, just like the problem on the hill, Are these related problem here? any one can help? It has New battery, new both fuel filter(clear one and the spindle), Counld it be leak air into the fuel system cost this, but I don't see the air in the clear filter? Is this car has a electronic fuel pump OR a mechincal fuel pump or Both, onec it start it can run all day? I love this car, took me about 6 years to find one I can affort, I had few diesel MB before, this is the fastest I even driven.

it sounds like the IP is loosing prime due to an air leak. when your try and start it there is enough fuel in the lines to get it to run for a short moment and then stall. check the fuel line going to the IP from the fuel filter for any air bubbles after she sits for a while. if the lines are old a small leak could be suspect due to how long it takes the leak to have an effect. with it being cold the line would contract making the opening larger.

Sounds very good , I saw some leak at the IP pump top, which I never see before, very slow when the car is runing about 1drop every minute, but no bubble, I will try to fix this by next week, and let you guys know how it turn out.
