RE: 1985 Mercedes benz 190D - $4000 - 2/23/2007 9:19:26 AM    CrazyMC   Posts: 14 Joined: 6/7/2006 Status: offline The front timing cover cracked at the serpentine belt tensioner pivot location.  It looked like the previous owner tried to install a new belt by prying on the tensioner pulley and caused it to fracture.  I also replaced both the tensioner piston and pulley. We can even race eachother's 2.2 liters while being passed up by school buses and dump trucks. Haha The only thing I would be curious about is that head gasket, did he let it overheat? RE: 1985 Mercedes benz 190D - $4000 - 3/19/2007 1:25:58 PM    CrazyMC   Posts: 14 Joined: 6/7/2006 Status: offline I had the cylinder head checked prior to assembly by a machine shop.  There was no warpage or cracks.  I also used new head bolts for the installation.  The car runs great and I currently use it to get to work.  (in reply to AMGMercedes) Post #: 17
