HELP! 2003 CL55 AMG vs. CL600

WhiteGirl -> HELP! 2003 CL55 AMG vs. CL600 (1/22/2007 8:24:05 PM)

My boss is looking to buy either a year 2003, or up, CL55 AMG or CL600. He has me researching the two cars, and asked if there are any physical differences between the car, or any other big differences, beside the fact that one is a V8 and one is a V12.

The CL55 is a supercharged V8 more sport and less toward luxury plus over time will cost less to maintain.

The CL600 is for those that have to say "I have a V12"

K1MOTORSPORT -> RE: HELP! 2003 CL55 AMG vs. CL600 (1/24/2007 11:41:13 AM)

CL55 will have AMG body kit, AMG seats, AMG instrument cluster, AMG brakes and more.  CL55 has advantage over CL600 except for "V12".

MioCLK -> RE: HELP! 2003 CL55 AMG vs. CL600 (2/10/2007 1:41:39 AM)

If the CL600 comes with the sport package, then it should look almost exactly the same as CL55.
CL55 has four tail pipes(two on each side), CL 600 has two (one on each side).
CL55 also has better brakes.

both has the same horsepower, but damnnn... CL 600 will whoop your ass on the torques....but i love AMG....they're the best...

and yeah, if he plans to get 2003 and up.  He should get 2004 and up....7 speed vs. 5 speed

CL_Fitty_Five -> RE: HELP! 2003 CL55 AMG vs. CL600 (2/17/2007 7:26:49 AM)

my bad....7 speed vs. 5 speed applies only to CL 500

My family just so happens to have both CL55 AMG and a CL600...

I have an 02' CL600:  Very smoothe ride, plenty of Highway power,  More Luxury and rights to say "Yes, thats a V12..."

My Dad has 03' CL55 AMG:  I've driven alot...  Lots of City umpppp...Stiffer suspension and steering responce.... More Sporty.... and rights to say "Yes, its SuperCharged..."

Both have their UPS, not downs....

AMG:  Sporty

CL600:  Luxury

Hope this helps....

Depends on what your boss likes. I'm turning 59 and I still own a '00 SL500, which is now up for sale, but I've recently purchased a beautiful '04 Silver CL600. I like the plushness of the 600 and the power of the V12. This may sound stupid but I really wanted the wood and leather steering wheel. You can't get it in the AMG. Anyway, I drove it from Baltimore to Chicago this past weekend and I gotta tell you (700 miles, 10.5 hrs which included a 1 hr. stop, 75 avg.), the ventilated seats, the massage feature, the seats just hugged you - it was great - kinda of missed the happy ending but oh well. But the power at the high end was amazing - when I wanted to pass someone who was doing 80 - it just coasted to 110 with ultimate ease. So the problem is making the choice, I went back and forth until I decided on the CL600. Anyway you look at it they look fantastic. Hope this helps.

Hello Everyone, noob to the site here, same question tho., so I am tagging onto Girl's thread.

After almost two years of enjoying my 2002 CLK55 AMG Cabriolet, I have decided that I am not realy a convertible guy. This car is my only drop top out of the 23 I have owned. I have been looking into an 2003 Cl car to replace the CLK.

My question is V12 vs 55AMG. I saw a short review on a non-Benz site, that claimed the 2003 V12 is problematic, a poor design, and a real $$ trap. While I find this hard to belive, I would like to hear a few words from real world owners, or true Benz experienced Mechanics.

Can we get some input on fuel milage, and cost differences to maintain these two beautiful cars? Please

Many Thanks to all
