To put it quick and simple, my car won't go over 60mph.

I've tried everything,

Transmission checked, flushed, and found to be in perfect working order.
Vaccuum lines checked. OK
Drivetrain checked. Brakes were applied slightly at all times, fixed.

I've played around with that adjustment for the little cable coming off of the throttle linkage on top of the engine, and have had a little luck, but it is still nothing like when I first got the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What RPM range are you in when it's at 60mph?

If RPM's are not very high or are average, you need a new fuel filter. This has happened to me, the exact same thing at 60mph.

If your car is reving and the RPM's are high at 60, then yes, you need a tranny adjustment which can be $$$ versus a fuel filter.

I forgot to mention, it is also surging. Is the fuel filter still a possibility?

When it gets to 60mph, your car slows down, picks up speed, then does the same thing over and over? It's an odd feeling. I'm assuming it isn't really a mechanical jerking of gears, more similar to running out of gas. It's most likely the fuel filter, that also happened to me when the fuel filter needed replaced.

When's the last time you changed it along with the oil filter?

Ok, bought the primary fuel filter tonight on the way home. The shop I went to didn't have the secondary fuel filter. I will buy the secondary filter tomorrow and install both, will post the results...

Keep your injectors and nozzles clean by filling the new filter with new transmission fluid. Empty the remaining fluid into the fuel tank. Also, if you haven't done an ALDA service that might also be a problem. It's very simple. You merely remove the banjo fitting which is on the manifold nearest the firewall. You can find a pictorial under ALDA service at http://www.dieselgiant.com
Best wishes,
charlie

Tweaked some of the transmission adjustments, installed both new fuel filters. Car is now performing like new.

Thanks for all the advice.
