This past week my SLK320 began acting funny. It has to do with a lack of response from the gas pedal. When I'm driving and lift my foot off of the pedal I lose my RPMs and it takes several seconds of my foot pressing the accelerator to get the RPMs back. Worse yet, when I'm stopped, it takes about 3-5 seconds for the car to get moving. Once the car gets going it's fine until I lift my foot off of the pedal. I've never experienced such a problem with any car I've owned. Anyone know what this might be.

Thanks

Any dash lights on.
Get the diagnostic codes read and report back.
Most modern cars have drive by wire. No mechanical connection between gas pedal and engine....just electronics.
"Funny" things happen for all sorts of reasons.

Stuart, I agree with you. It is probably the accelerator peddle system, since it is not mechanical.

I agree it is the accelerator system but could not go as far as stating that it is the pedal assembly. Need some codes to refine problem definition.
The pedal is just one part of a very complex system. They do go wrong but are usually very reliable. No indication of mileage. Suspect it will be some other component in the system.
