can anyone please tell me or show me how to adjust the overall idle speed of this car? it shakes violently, but if i give it the slightest gas it smooths right out.... already played with the dash adjust but need about 200 more rpm's to tame this beast.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I got you on this one.

there is an idle adjustment knob to the left of the ignition. you might just have to move your head left or right to see it. try turning it to the left(counter clockwise) this will put you at high idle good for start, warm up after she reaches temp i am able to turn the knob almost all the way clockwise about 2 clicks from the stop.

now on the other hand if your already using the idle adjust and you still run rough you need to pop the hood and look for the emergency stop lever on the driver side of the motor. u can follow the linkage across the top of the valve cover. if you have a helper have them turn the knob and you will see it pull on the linkage by a length of cable. set the idle knob all the way clockwise(low idle) and adjust the stop so that when she if at running temperature she will idle just a touch rough. once finished you can add the two clicks counter clockwise so that the know is inline with the indent on the trim ring.

thats how it works on my 76 300D i am certain yours is very similar if not identical

Check your motor mounts. Oil deteriorates the rubber, they get mushy making the car will shake at idle.
