Ok, finished the brakes on my C230. Piece of cake.

Make sure you pump the brakes a few times when you are done or you will be in for a surprise the first time you try to stop!

I took pictures:

Before

Old/New comparison. Yeah, they were worn out.

Before the caliper piston is pushed back in

After caliper piston is compressed (watch brake fluid reservoir to make sure it doesn't overflow)

All Done! You can see where the sensor plugs in here

I pulled the rear wheels and didn't see any sensors. Looks like the only sensor, on a 2003 C230 anyway, is the front right brake pad.

I ordered OEM replacement brakes that came with new bolts for the calipers. I torqued them down to 25lb/ft like other 12mm bolts on my Honda. Hope that's sufficient.

This was easier than I thought it would be. I hope this is helpful to someone.

Ouch, you can buy cheap rotors for like $40 each online. OEM replacements are $60 for the front and $50 for the rear. I only replace mine if they are badly grooved or noticably warped (when you feel them pulsing as you stop). The dealer price seems unreasonable when you consider their cost including labor is less than $300.

I'd pull out the phone book and start calling local auto parts stores. It took me 2 tries to find one that had them. I bought OEM pads which were more expensive than other brands but gave me peace of mind. Make sure you only buy 1 brake sensor for the front passenger side, that's all you need.

If you aren't in a hurry, you can order online from thepartsbin.com

I have a c230 kompressor and tried to change the front pads myself. All I saw were pins holding down the springs on top of the pads. Where are the bolts located?

There are two bolts holding the caliper on.  You get to them from the back.  Look at the first picture a few posts up from here.  You can see the top bolt in that picture.

On the w203 there should be one on the rear on the same side of the vehicle as the front.

I recently changed my rear pads and rotors on my 05 C230. The rear rotors that I installed were Zimmernman Cross Drilled Rotors. I thought that car would look and brake better with having all the rotors crossed drilled, instead of the front only. The installation was simple and straight to the point, and the brake pads were so easy, even a cave man can do it. and I spent $200 for the rotors and pads. And there is only one brake sensor on the entire car, and that is the front right caliper. The car looks really good with having all the rotors crossed drilled.

I just changed the front pads on my '05 c230 and i had two pins to remove.  I didnt have to remove the caliper from the car or anything.  Simply tap out the two pins after opening up the pistons and pull the pads out the top.  Drop the new pads in and tap the pins back in. Done......
