I have a 2000 S500. It sometimes vibrates around 40 to 60 mph. The entire car vibrates. The back seat, the passengers seat and a bit throught the steering wheel. I have purchased new wheel and tires and I still have the same problem. It does not occur all the time and I cannot force it to happen. The first time it happened, I thought a wheel was coming off but all lugs were tight. Any ideas? Thanks.

Depends where u are located, my dealer charges a lot for alignment and wheel balancing. Try using specialized independent shops that do alignment.

you got two. one that connects it to the transmission and the other one connects it to the rear differential. check both of them. there must be no play, tear, or enlarged mounting holes.

This really helps. I will take it to the dealer and update this forum on the status. Thank you very much. I was afraid that I would get caught up in chasing a symptom, making repairs that are not needed and still having the problem. At least this will help to focus on the most likely problem area.

Is there such a thing as the entire drive shaft needing to be replaced? And, under what circumstances would the drive shaft need to be replaced (other than the obviously, as with an accident of some sort)? The U-Joints of these drive shafts are sealed, are they not? I've noticed that they're not sold a lot, at least not for my vehicle. But the flexible disk...well... I never thought that would be a source of drive-line vibration! That is enlightening! And I thank you as well, because I've been having some vibration as well, and like this fella, I kept thinking it was wheels, tires, shocks, tie-rod ends, control arms, bushings, etc. Thanks
