Most eveyone is changing their "Oil" thru the top using the dipstick tube, It is recommended by MB, and why would anyone use E-Bay filters, get the OEM from a reputable source, since some on E bay are copies down to the packaging.
My dealer charges me $90 for  (mobil synth) OIL and FILTER, and washes the car, they first complained because i did not want the full service.

the purpose of the fleece filter, is that it lasts longer, now MB use extended drain intervals of the engine oil

Can anyone recommend the proper wieght of oil to use for a 2001 S500 (W220)? One dealer in my state (South Carolina) recommended 0W40 the other 5W40 (both Mobil1 full synthetic). Which would be better for the warmer climate?
Thanks.

I go for the $95 option a the dealer 5-40 and a wash, I stay clean and they give out coffee, and tell me if something major is happening. They dont like it but will do it!

That is a fine group, as long as the filter is not paper. I am going to 5w40 this weekend not for climate reasons though. There is quite a bit of talk about Mobil 1 changing their formula and will not be the same synthetic as before. The Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 may be a better choice which I am going to consider next year. this year I am using Havoline 5w40 100% synthetic which meets MB spec. Amsoil 5w40 is also an excellent choice.
