Hey Everyone,
I am in the process of doing my first brake job on a '85 300D Turbo. I took off the tire and the rotor was all rusty, like the pad had never touched it. I took off the pad and it seemed to be be fine and have a lot of wear left. There was a little brake fluid that leaked out, but that is low anyway.

Can anyone tell me what may have caused this and if I need to replace the rotor, and or entire caliper (or anything else)?

thanks for your help

OK, so I've resigned myself that I need new rotors.

How do I get the rear driver's side rotor off? The caliper is completely off.

My repair manual (Haynes, I think) says the rotor comes right off but it doesn't.

I have applied a liberal amount of WD40, and the rotor starts to come about 1/8 of an inch off, but it's like a spring is holding it on.

Anyone have any ideas??

Well, If it is completely free with no attachments and is stuck on... apply more WD-40 or what have you and maybe... perhaps do a love tap with a hammer. But that's just my opinion. And by the way do you have a photo on the rear brakes all assembled? If you do, please send it to me or post it, or even better If your manual shows a diagnostic or exploded view please send it.

Thanks

Here is a picture of the driver's side rear brake assembled. Let me know if you need anything else.
