I too have the same problem that just started. The part number for the vacuum cyl. I have is 129-800-16-72 and my dealer in the Denver Metro (Murray Motors Imports) list price is $169.92. They seem to imply that I need to replace the whole lock (with the vacuum cyl attached) which cost $514.80. I think the parts guy was confused. Does anyone rebuild these things. I would think a seal kit would be cheaper and easier.

Mercedes Hydraulic Cylinder Rebuilder:

Dennis Ficken
16285 S. Chester
Olathe, Ks 66062

(913) 390-0506
email: mainshipmed@sbcglobal.net

Dennis charges $30 @ cylinder + $10 shipping. Send him both latch cylinders. If one is leaking, the other will also. just a matter of time. If your latch assemblies are shot, I've got a front pair still under MB Warranty that you can have for 1/2 whatever today's list price is from MB.

Bob

Once I make the replacement, though, is there any need to have additional hydraulic fluid added? If so, where is this done?

Be sure and check the fluid level in the hydraulic resevoir located under your spare tire. It takes M-B p/n 00989910310 hydraulic fluid at about $20.00/liter US.
