Winter Tires for CLS500

MYWIFESCLS500 -> Winter Tires for CLS500 (2/27/2006 4:31:12 PM)

I have a new CLS500 on order for my wife. No problem this season, but come next winter I will be looking for winter tires. I prefer Bridgestone Blizzaks, but I note on TireRack they do not make the OEM sizes for the CLS500. Any suggestions?

I had pothole damage on the OEM (Continentals) tires. I took a chance and replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S to use as a year round tire, rather than buy a seperate set of Winter and Summer tires, and have been very happy so far with both dry and wet performance. My CLS is my daily driver and I took it out the day after our so called "blizzard" (I'm near NYC) and even on the several uncleared roads it did well, not much drama and certainly better than the OEMs. IMHO, if snow is not an everyday occurrence for her, these might be a good choice. Not a cheap choice, but a good trade-off. You could always swap the OEMs or another summer tire onto a diferent set of rims. BTW, you can drive these Michelins fairly aggressively. Just not as aggressive as the ones that will come with the car.

Just became a member today and saw your original message from a year ago. I had a 2006 CLS 500 and bought 4 Blizzak WS-50 snow tires and MB rims that I cannot use. They have approx 2000 miles of use. Are you still interested?
