i'm currently shopping for new wheels and i'm considering the c320 hatchback. since i have no experience with mercedes products i'm curious about any serious problems in the design of the car. are there any known "bugs" in the engine or the 5 speed auto trans or the engine computer or front suspension or brakes or brake control system or whatever. can any owners recommend the c320 hatchback without reservation? or if you have reservations what are they???? thanks.

I have the 2003 C320 Coupe manual transmission. I spoke to a few owners of the automatic, and these are the following comments: 1. A/C: blower issue. Passenger blower will wear out and will need to be replaced. 2. Transmission. Like the manual, it will need to be replaced after 7-10K. There's probably somekind of defect. We all brought our c320s in, they replace it without question. 3. Drive Rear wheel well squeaks. It's the parking break. Tell them to greese it. 4. Rain enters the skylight. Some users. I never had a problem with it. 5. Electrical problem. They had to do a hard reset on mine. The power windows would not configure for driver. Convience package. If i were to purchase a MB in the future, I would stay away from the C230,C240,C320, and C340 series. Everyone I spoke to have had nothing but problems. BTW, my C320 is in the shop for another month before I can get it back. I've had it for one year (as of Friday) and it's been in the shop for at least a month now.

Hey man, I have owned a C230 coupe for almost a year now and have never ever had a problem with it. The car is perfect. It always runs smooth, fast, quiet and sporty when it needs to. I know you are looking at the V6 but if you arent interested in doing any aftermarket engine modifications, I would go with the C230 - better gas mileage and its still almost as fast as the V6. Even if something small goes wrong with the car, there is nothing like owning a german car - nothing. I'll put up with a few problems, if they ever occur, because I love the car so much. Test drive both engines and see which one you like better. Good Luck - John
