tulio -> swap auto tranny to standar gear (2/10/2006 1:12:31 AM)

Any body there please, I would like to know if 5 speed manual transmission from 1984 190E with engine 2.3 L, would fit on 1989 190D with 2.5L engine.
My cars has auto transmission and I would like very much to put a manual transmission on it. I just found nice transmission which is on 1984, 190E, 2.3L.
appreciated very your time and attention.

Best regards to you all

dont take this to the bank, but im pretty sure they dont match. i know i couldnt use a 300e tranny when i had to swap the one in my 300d. different bell housings. plus, i believe that the diesel trannies are a bit beefed up to handle the extra torque. you may find that a 4 speed from a 240d works, but theres still the problem of fitting your car with all the proper equipment for the manual trans. for the trouble, id keep the tranny you have. i got over 420k out of mine, and i tore it down after i took it out and it turns out it was just fine, my problem was actually a vacuum modulator. $800 and 12 hours labor for a $40 part that took 10 mins to install and a little tinkering to adjust [:@]
