I recently changed the battery and have to find out the Radio code for my 2001 SLK.
The dealer told me that the Radio was changed under warranty and they would have to take the Radio out to get the S/N to give me the new Radio code. Can someone give me some instructions on how to remove the Radio, pics would be great.
Thanks

With the removal keys, this job should be easy and quick. Is the dealership charging you for this service?

Hi,
Removal takes about 5 seconds.
You can get the removal tools off ebay although since you have to go to the garage I'm sure they would remove and refit included in whatever price they charge you for the new code number.
They use a bit of software which generates new code numbers from the serial number on the radio after checking title to the unit.
Stuart.

The mechanic I talked to said that he would not charge me if I asked for him, I was just wondering how much trouble it would. But since it needs special tools I might let him do it.
thanks
