I read where some say they get 30+ mpg on their 126 diesels.

Don't believe any eBay claims you read.

I have a 1990 300D  2.5. I just had the fuel filters changed soon after I purchased for the second time. I have got 32 on the two tanks of fuel since the filters replaced. The tank prior to that I got 25.  This all predominantly city driving.

Is there anything like driving a diesel? I drove a new E320 Bluetec the other day.  The salesperson said they had response from owners that they still wanted a little bit of a diesel hum to the new ones.

My unusal high mileage figures were do to carboned injectors. With new injectors I average 27 city and 32 hwy. However either adding MMO or 30% with cetane improver helps mileage.

Whatever "improvement" you see from a tornado is 100% placebo. Anything and everything the Tornado may have done will be completely obliterated by the turbo.

From a 300D, 23-28mpg. Occasionally a rare 30mpg will pop up on long highway trips.

Ever wonder what would happen if that tornado filter got sucked into your engine? They are pretty flimsy imo

I and colleagues at Boeing have about ten mechanical diesel injection Mercedes, four, five & six cylinder from a 1958 190D four speed to a 1987 300SDL. We have tracked over 2 million miles of records. Our conclusion is long term, i.e. over 100k miles, with any one of these the mileages is 23-24 mpg. Yes, we all seem to have a moment or two when the mileage seems to go up, but then the rule of statistics applies itself, and the mileage trends toward the norm of 23-24 mpg. I have never found anyone who can show me 10K miles of continuous records with these wonderful mileage reports. If you are out there, please post your data for those 20 tanks of diesel... nrk
