But since the price for the SL55 is wrong ($ 370k) maybe the rest of the article is wrong too....

Thats a Australian Article from a reliable newspaper. Price for a Australian delivered SL55 is A$369,900 (+ on roads of about $10,00). At current conversion rates thats about US$280,000. Everything in Australia is far more expensive than other countrys annoyingly

Mea culpa to all Australians.

But US$280,000 is still about double the price tag as in the US. Hope you all get also double salaries there down under ;-)

Everything is more expensive down here annoyingly. And we dont get double salarys. I've worked out that if I fly to America or Hong Kong or somthing and buy a Digital SLR camera there and then fly back, its about the same price as me just buying the same camera in the shop here. Its not fair :(

Manufactuers just charge a lot more here(for no reason) + we have hefty sales tax on luxury cars on top of a import tax and motor vehicle tax and a %10 GST. Theres also a %40 tax on petrol, A$350 a year registration tax(about US$275) and %10 GST on car insurance and parts.

huahuahauhauahuahauhua I don´t know if you really ment to be funny, but I found it veeeeeery funny!!!

here in Brazil imported cars are also VERY expensive. The taxes make the price double in dollars, and when you convert to reais (our money) it is multiplied by 3. So we pay about 6 times what you pay in the US for the same car. just an example: a BMW M3 costs 330.000 reais here... I guess it must cost about 50.000 dollars in the US. Here with 50.000 reais you can buy an Audi A3 with an 1.6 litter engine

anyway, our climate is much better than in the north. so I won´t complain anymore

about the new Mercedes: seems nice, but I would like to see some pictures... Let´s see if those germans can beat ferrari again (again because I consider that SLR beated the 575 Maranello)
