I have a 2004 c230 kompressor sport sedan and have currently logged on 2000 miles. Should I wait to change the oil when the flex schedule (usually around 10,000 miles) tells me to do so or should i take it in earlier around 5000 miles ? And is it safe to change the oil at around 10,000 mile? Any input or opinion is gladly accepted. Thanks

My thoughts are that it wouldn't hurt to change oil and filter early, esp. with new engines "running in" and creating deposits. It would also depend on the type of oil. Fully synthetic (Mobil 1 etc.) gives greater range between oil changes than ordinary mineral oil. My 2c worth... Robert 1994 C180 139K kms 1986 230E 351K kms

Just wait for the FSS, there is no need to spend the extra money. Every Mercedes rolls out the factory with Mobil 1 full synthetic, the place I used to have my car serviced at uses Pennzoil (fully synthetic), but it is approved by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes also approves brands like Catrol and Shell. All vehicles with FSS needs synthetic oil. MioCLK38061.0471180556

4 years / 50,000 miles whichever comes first. There is no problem changing your own oil, just that it cost money out of your own pocket. And remember to use SYNTHETIC OIL only, no matter what kind of engine it is. If it got FSS, it gotta have synthetic.
