HI All,

I have an '01 500CL. When I turn on the left turn signal I get a malfunction message in the message center and the interior arrow on the dash flashes very quickly. It would appear that all of the exterior lamps are working and are not flashing quickly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

You may have an electrical contact problem between the turn signal bulb socket and the headlamp housing.

Remove the left or right turn signal from the headlamp housing and check the outer electrical contacts of the bulb socket for burn marks.

I'd try to reseat them first. (ie.. unplug then plug back in) then re-test it to see if it fixed the problem.

215's and 220's will substitute a bulb to compensate for a turn signal bulb blown in the rear. You have to look carefully to see it. The best way is to cycle the key off and then back on, stand behind the car and have someone operate the left turn signal, you can catch the bulb out on the first blink, after that it will substitute another bulb to take its place. It flashes the dash indicator quickly as a reminder.

Thanks Everyone,

It turns out it is the LED that is in the side mirror indicator. MB is ordering the part right now.

Thanks

This problem is also common with the CLK500. I had it happen 2 times in the past 2 years.
