Hi, I got a 240D with 135k miles in exchange for a bunch of work. When you put the Selector Lever in "D" and push the car it goes, otherwise you have to rev it alot. Reverse works fine. I have read all that everyone suggests for testing Vacuum system down to the modulator. I dropped the pan and it looks very clean which suggests that the clutch bands are still good based on American transmission experience. I partially believe that it is the "B2" Piston "shuttle valve" that is broken. Can someone tell me where on the 722.117 transmission it would be or send a picture?
thanks,
Jeff

on the rear part of the shift lever....lower front of governor.

remove that cover and see the B2 plunger lip seal if good. check clearance too.

you can always change the length of the push rod.

OK, Thanks Sleepwalker! I'm reading this at lunch time trying to remember what I was looking at last night before I posted the question. I'll be looking this over tonight and then I'll probably have more questions.

UPDATE!
Dropped the valve body and looked it over. Not finding anything obvious, I went back and looked at the Clutch bands, the back one seemed loose on the drivers side, further examination reavealed a break halfway up the band. I'm in the market for a transmission.

small line crack doesn't matter. not unless the material is really peeling and burnt.

I should have written the description more clearly. The steel band that has the friction material on it is broken. Consequently when the pistons move it does not stop the hub that the friction material (band) is wrapped around. I hope that clearifies the explanation.
Thanks,
Jeff
