Hi

I have a problem with my wiper, it seems to struggle accross the wind screen, as if it were pressing to hard on the glass. However, lifting the arm free from the windscreen and operating doesnt solve this problem?

Could this be the motor?

Also, intermitantly, the temperaure, speed and rev counters dont work. After a few minutes some or all may kick in and start working again. The fuel one seems to work all the time.

Any suggestions?

Hi
I have a C280 sport with what sounds to be same problem.
I notice that eventually the wiper action normalises, almost like it "warms up". I notice that it slows right down in the centre area of the screen.
Keen to hear if you get an answer to this one.

Nigel

Don't just leave that wiper!

You are in for a big bill if you do...around £500 at present. Like you I almost lost mine. This is very, very common. If the wiper sticks at the top of its travel ( ie vertical) the motor will burn out. The solution ( I was told, and it now works fine) is:
Switch on wiper, turn on ignition, when wiper arm is vertical switch off ignition. Below/inside the wiper arm the push rod will be full extended ( shiny 10mm..ish metal rod) spray this with WD-40, turn on ignition allow one sweep, repeat 4 times.

That should sort out the problem, how long it lasts? I'm no mechanic...but I am a very grateful user! Hope it saves you

Many thanks, sounds like that shaft has been sticking, as another paricipant stated, this needs lubricating at least once/year.
