I have another problem with my 190E -87 (NOT Diesel)

I have the manual heater knobs,
but if I turn the knob (either one) about up to one centimeter... nothing *freezing my ass off*
another MILLIMETER then ALL heat comes at ones *like nosediving into the surface of the sun, hot, very hot*
full heat in other words right away...

Does anyone know how to fix this problem,
and how to discribe the fix to a dummie as myself?

I need your help mates!
