Hi,  My TD is sitting very low in the back.  I think the hydraulic leveling sytem is OOC.  I added some OEM Hydro fluid to the tank in the eng bay but no difference.

Has any one brought thiers back to life??  Love to know how.. thanks Chris

Do the struts have any fluid leaking? Is there any whistling/whining noise? Look by the differential and see if the rod is connected from the valve to the sway bar.

Hi, No there is no leaking around the differential.  When I got the car the hydraulic leveling sytem bottle was pretty empty so I got some OEM fluid but it has made no difference.

I have heard they can be bled like getting air out of brake lines.  Is this true??

I can tell that there is no fluid in the back end since when you go over a speed bump the struts sound like they are bottoming out??

thanks Chris

The hydraulic system is self bleeding. If the pump was run low on oil then it or the level valve has likely seized or galled to where it allows fluid to bypass. Unless the fluid level was neglected for several years, low SLS fluid means there is at least a small leak somewhere.

Remove the return line from the bottle (the top line) and place the end in another bottle. Start the engine and see how much oil flows. It should be able to fill a quart bottle in under 15 seconds.
If there is no flow, the pump is seized. If there is flow its time to test the valve.

Reconnect the return line and refill the tank. Chock the front wheels, put the transmission in Park and with the engine running, move the valve lever (center of the rear sway bar) and see if it moves the rear end up/down and if there are any dead spots. The suspension height should respond to change in the levers position almost immediately. Be careful not to get pinched between the ground and fuel tank!

Whichever one does not work will need to be replaced.

Hi,

Thanks for the directions.  I pulled the top line off of the hydrolic res and ran the car in park (and all gears) and no fluid went in to the container I had.

I followed the bottom line to what I think is the vacuum pump.  Could that be what is not working?  The reason I ask is the vacuum door locks dont work either??

Standing by to get dirty.

thanks Chris
