We have had a B class, 200 Cdi for about 2 years.  For about a year I have been unhappy about the ride.  At about 1800 rpm it almost feels like the car is missing under slow acceleration.  I am fairly sure it is the continuously variable gearbox.  I have had it at our Merc dealership in Cape Town on at least 3 ocassions and they will not commit themselves as to whether this is just a characteristic of the gearbox or if it is abnormal.  They could not find me the same model to drive so gave me an A class, petrol engine with the same box.  Though not as pronounced, I think I can feel the same sort of roughness.  I am trying to resolve myself to this just being an inherent characteristic of the box but it is more and more annoying.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Am I just being too sensitive?

I have had 200 cdi autotronic for two months now. Generally I like this transmission. But I have noticed that if you use transmission with C (comfort) switched on, the car feels a little powerless. But when you use S (sport) mode, car feels better and in normal drive the fuel consumption is still the same.
