C280 SPORT -> Oh My goodness. Please Help! (7/3/2008 11:19:11 AM)

Ok. Right on 4th July weekend of course. My wife droped my key to my 2000 c280 in the pool! I got it out dried it and it worked ok. Then today I went to get in and it wouldnt unlock. I manualy opend it and the alarm went off. The alarm stopped and then I put the key in the ignition and it wouldnt allow me to start the car. I went to the local shop and the owner put a new battery in( free of charge) I still get the sam ething. wont unlock, start and the alarm keeps going off. The key seams to be no good and I have to order a new one. The shop said I need proof of ownership and registration. How much is it? How long will it be before I get the key?

Most dealerships have the keys for your car in stock.
Around 200 bucks, believe it or not.
They make terrible pool toys. Sorry.[:@]

lol yes they do. My other question is that before with my dead key i would put it in the ignition and not get the clicking sound to turn the key. I coud not turn the key. I hope when the new one arrives everything will be ok
