Howdy folks, just bought a 87 300d turbo a couple of weeks ago, haven''t driven it much trying to work a couple things out before the wife starts commuting in it full time. This weekend I noticed sitting in traffic the temp gauge starting to edge up slightly and the A/C gets warmer at the same time, as soon as you start moving everything goes back to normal quickly. I pulled over to check and see if the aux cooling fan was running and it wasn''t. I checked the fuse and it was O.K. We had a 420SEL a couple of years ago and I thought the aux. fan kicked in with the A/C or does it simply come on at a given temp. Can anybody help??? Thanks

There is a switch on the receiver dryer that triggers the fan. Jump the two plug wires together and see if the fan kicks on. Removing the engine fan is a bad idea on any model, even if its replaced by an electric fan.
