Please help! My 1999 slk230''s top won''t come down. the trunk lid will open but the motors/pumps just hum. Stealer diagnosed it as faulty switches in the windshield pillar and would charge $900.00 to replace 2 of them. I am wondering if anyone knows if the alternate method of raising the top mechanically will work in reverse? In other words, does anyone know whether or not I can release the locks with the hex wrench in the access in the roof, which would then allow the rest of the hydraulics to work? I tried turning the little hex nut counterclockwise but couldn''t seem to get it to go and was hesitant to be too aggressive. Any thoughts welcome
