It is a really dumb question, but how do you turn the A/C on in a 240d. With many other cars I see the A/C button. With this car all I see is 2 dials on left and right, a part in the middle that turns white to blue, no A/C button to engage the clutch. So any ones help on how to turn the A/C on is greatly apprieciated. The other quesion is can you check the compressor, with the belt off. It turns, but I don''t knoiw why the belt was off when I got it. I have a retrofit kit and going to put 134 in it, So I need to know iof I need a compressor first, before wasting money putting in refrigerant, and then put in some more.

Turn the blue/white knob to the temperature you like and it will engage. If it turns then the past owner probably took it off when the A/C lost its charge. R134a conversions are junk. R12 is more efficient and will cool better. You really should take it to a qualified A/C repair shop, have the receiver/dryer replaced, the system evacuated, checked for leaks and properly charged.
