on an 81 240D, what is the key looking aparatus to the left of the steering wheel??

remember, i have no manual...

Idle control.

Press the throttle and turn it counter clockwise to raise the idle, turn it clockwise to lower.

Forced Induction - how do I dial in the idle? I don't want to idle too low or too high. What is the best way to tell if it's idleing at the right speed?

Set it to where the engine is running smoothly.
