My ML320, 1998 water pump has about quarter inch play whenever I pull Radiator Fan towards radiator but like a spring effect goes back into its original position. I know it's not normal but wondering if it is my water pump bearing is going bad or fan clutch mechanism. Any advice please.
FYI, my initial inspection showed that I have 2 outlet water pump.

The fan bolts directly to  the front of the pump so pump is suspect. My 1998 Ml320 pump bearing went at 205,000Km or 127,000 miles. You have to remove the shroud then clutch fan then about 12 plus bolts from the front of the engine.

Thanks for the reply. Is Craft brand name water pump any good? It is cheaper than OEM brand name, so I figured if replacing it is necessary I would go for the aftermarket one.
