Hey guys, this is my first time here.

I'm asking you all for some help with my 200D from 1966(?).  It was handed down to me by my great uncle who had bought it new some 40 years ago.  I drove it for a couple of years but sadly it has ended up in my backyard having been replaced by my bicycle.  Anyway, it's time for me to face the times and sell the beauty, despite all the kind memories that it harbors.

Before I get ready to sell it there are a few things that I need to do.  The one of primary concern is what I'd like to ask you all for help with.  The shifter for this four-speed is located on the steering colum.  The problem is that the connector that holds the knob onto the steering wheel has been worn down from years and years of use.  As a result there is a LOT of play, which isn't too bad, but now it's gotten to the point where shifting into reverse is near impossible.  There is a spring mechanism that prevents one from accidentally shifting into reverse, but that's not the problem.  I need to replace the little 1x1x1" thingy that holds everything in place.  The thing is that I have no idea what this is called so I can't manage to find a new one.

If anyone could help me with this I would be so happy.  I could supply a picture if needed, but I figure that some of you guys here are virtual encyclopedias.

Please respond soon!  Thanks a lot,

Calvin.

Call the Mercedes Classic Center. They can help you figure out what you need and they may even be able to get one.
