I''m currently having the same problem. Mine was making a faint hissing sound from the area of the switch. I haven''t messed with it yet, except to disconnect the mostly drained battery. I washed the car a week ago and have kept it garaged since. About five days after washing it, the fog lights came on by themselves.
I had similar problems a year ago after a severe rainstorm. The fog lights came on by themselves, then other problems cropped up: alarm going off for no reason etc. The used car dealership I bought it from sent it to the MB dealership for repair. I''m told they replaced the whole wiring harness, but I got no paperwork and I''m skeptical. Anyway, there''s no warranty (unless the MB dealership warrantees their work), so I''m hoping we''ll get some good advice. - John
