I am attempting to swap a 300c turbo motor and trans into a 300 td,I put it in last weekend and it bolted right in,there are a few diffs between the two I need to address however, aside from the sls, the trans plug was different but the number of wires were the same could I simply get away w/ splicing it in? What does this wiring control, I assume its back up lights and the lock up torque converter. Does this model have a lock up t/c? also the wires are similar in color but 2 of them are a larger gauge on the 83 but the others are the same color and gauge.Does the 83 have a pcm somewhere I need to dig out that controls shift points? Lastly the glow plug sys on the 80 is different, there is one more pin on the 80 than on the 83, on both sides of the module, they are hooked together (I took it apart and looked) its marked "b" I was hoping to ignore that wire and swap over the 83 module since all the other markings match up(15,50 la and so on) any ideas thoughts or past experiances would be very much appreciated. Thank You.

Back up lights and neutral safety switch. The torque converter does not lock, that didn't come in until the mid 90's. There is no computer.

How are you going to solve the SLS? The CD engine does not have the pump mount cast into the head.

Thanx Forced, that makes things easier. I havent made up my mind yet about the sls problem, There are a few suggestions in this forum that suggest some shocks, mercedes source has a $400 kit, somebody told me I could put sd springs in, Any ideas?

Mercedes$ource is a ripoff.

Normal shocks and SD springs might work, one person is working on an electric pump.

I've never known anybody to be satisfied after removing the SLS from their wagon, myself included when I tried it on my 300TD. Too much weight hanging off the back end. If you put in springs and shocks to keep it at the right level and soft unloaded then adding weight will make it sag and bounce.

Air shocks are another possibility. http://www.shockshopusa.com/air-shocks.html
You can adjust the air pressure to compensate for loads and fine tune the ride height.

Yea, Its sags just sitting there empty, Its seems like the air shocks would work, (they did on my elcamino anyway) Ive seen tds @ my local pick a part and I guess if nothing works I could swap the head, but Im a real cheapskate, the sd springs would be real cheap route, but I definitley cant ignore the the problem
