So I just got my first Mercedes, a 1980 300TD, but it has no owners manual and I am not sure about checking the transmission fluid. I know pretty much every vehicle I have ever owned the car should be warmed up and running when checking it, but this car (I bought it at an auction) had it filled right to the full mark, but when not running. If I start the car the fluid does not show on the dipstick at all. So, car running or not when checking? I do not want to overfill it! Bob
