Its easy. Unscrew it from the pump base and screw on the new one. There are several on eBay, search there for "Mercedes primer".

Do not get the old style with the plastic knob, get the updated style.

Old style: New style:

I read recently that the new style is not suitable for veggie oil and other thicker fuels.

It was dieselgiant.com - I just checked. the old style is also quite a lot cheaper. I like the way it can be locked down also (mine leaks a bit when pumping but not when screwed down), not sure if the new version can do that.

Being able to lock down has no real function other than personal preference.

The new version is spring return so all you have to do is push it.

That means its bad. If fuel can leak out, air can leak in.

When I lock it down it doesn't leak fuel or air. How do yo know the screw down has no function? It makes sense that there would be an over-riding seal in screw-down position.

Because the new style is spring return.

??? I was talking about the old style, not the new style. Don't worry about it...
