Over the years I've lost interest in the Oscars.
I now see it as a total advertisement for Hollyweirds commercial product-movies. Yea, it always was, but I'm more jaded about Hollyweird's social activism these days; all wrapped up in a bigger than life entertainment vehicle.

I will record it. Go past the speeches. Just for the jokes mostly. Since i have not seen any of the nominated movies.

The kind of movies that win aren't the kind I like.
Jon Stewart is hosting and he said he won't get political. That's what he does best, political jokes.
You're going to hear a lot of dumb anti-Bush and anti-war stuff from Clooney and the rest of the loonies. Also, a bunch are going to make a "green" statement by showing up in hybrid cars instead of limos. There's probably a staging area a block away where they all will arrive in their limos before switching to the hybrid of their choice and pretend then came the whole way in the little piss-ant hybrid. Then, they'll jump in their private jets and go on vacation somewhere.

No point. the Oscars will be talked about for months, everywhere, in the media. Right before they talk about the new Iraqi bombing

Seems like a sleeper won this year- Crash I was already for the Gay Cowboy Movie to win. Of all the movies that were up for Best Picture, Crash was the only one I'd seen. That is very rare. I liked it too. My favorite movie ( and I don't see a lot) was a children's movie-The Chronicles of Narnia....
BTW, After I said I wouldn't watch the Oscars, I ended up watching about 10 mins. by way of channel surfing. It confirmed my opinion that it's a collosal waste of time; for me, anyway. To each his own.
